In theory, Loa PowerTools will run on any computer that can run the latest Java run-time environment. We've tested it extensively on Windows XP and Mac OS X Tiger and Leopard.
We only support it on those two operating systems, but you are more than welcome to test it out on other types of computers. Be sure to let us know what you find out! We've had good luck with it on Linux.
We're currently testing:
We understand that many of our customers are sending email from multiple computers - one at home, one at work, and so on. Once you set-up your Loa PowerTools account, you can download and install Loa PowerTools onto all of the computers you're emailing from. You'll just need to log into Loa PowerTools using the same login credentials each time.
Each email you send from each computer counts towards the Loa PowerTools quota for your specific account level.
By default, Loa PowerTools is configured to play a sound each time it sucessfully sends an email for you - just a way of confirming that all's well with your messages. You can turn this alert off by going into the "Preferences" menu. Under Preferences you need to go under the category of "Miscellaneous" and there you'll find the option to choose other sounds, or none.
Provided you completed the transaction properly, the upgrade has worked. But your local copy of Loa PowerTools must talk to the server before the plan information gets upgraded. You can force Loa PowerTools to do this in any one of three ways:
Nope, it's not a bug. Loa counts one send for each recipient of an e-mail. So, you must have sent the message to two people. This is part of Loa's war on spam: if we counted message titles instead of recipients, someone could use Loa to pester you with millions of e-mails.
LoaPowerTools is probably not running. Please ensure that it is started, and that you can see the little LoaPowerTools window on your screen.
Some LoaPowerTools buttons require live internet access in order to work. If you don't have a live internet connection, after about 30 seconds you will get a notification message. Try again later when you do have a connection.
Loa PowerTools is a service that makes your CURRENT e-mail addresses work everywhere, and does NOT give you a new e-mail address.
